Pentium D 820 vs 940 vs Core2Duo E4600

A fellow LowYat.NET forummer, acerdawn, agreed to loan me a Pentium D 940 for me to do my shootout. I received it today, and begin my tests. Well, here are the results.


As you can see from the results, the 3.2GHz Pentium D 940 still fails to catch up with the stock E4600 at 2.4GHz. Even with a 4MB L2 cache, the Pentium D's old architecture is starting to show itself. Intel's new Core architecture has proven itself worthy. Although the E4600 has half the cache, it still can't catch up with the E4600. It beats the Pentium D 820 though, but that is to be expected. Next up is gaming results.
