PC Fair August 2008 Coverage PT2

The specs are not to be laughed at as it has an Intel Core2Extreme Quad Core CPU at 3GHz. Damn. It come with 4GB of RAM (!), 1TB of HDD (!), Vista Ultimate and 2x 8800GTS. The letdowns are the motherboard. Who would still be using an X38 with X48 around? And why "just" a DVD-RW? Why not go straight for Blu-Ray? BTW, it also comes with a Samsung 22" LCD, which I can say, is stunning.
Whitebox, the local PC assembler had some interesting rigs up. First off was the Whitebox Titanium, which costs a whopping RM9000. This is the spec sheet.

The rig.
They did set up GRID as a demo game, so I tried my itchy hands on it. To my disappointment, it does not perform as well as I expected it to. Whenever there is dust/smoke, it lags horribly. Why not? The X38 is mean for CROSSFIRE, not SLI, if that is what Whitebox is trying to do. Why not throw in the ATi cards that were meant for the beast?

The rig's yellow casing. Note, the LCD on the right is not the Samsung, but rather a 19" LG Fantasy LCD.
